Activities Manager

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Our Activities Managers will assist with the daily operation of the activities program for Meals on Wheels (MOW) of Wake County, Inc. to ensure all eligible clients are well served, and that activities and programming are provided for the residents of our community. This role is responsible for encouraging the participation and socialization of patrons. This position works with enthusiasm to enhance patrons' quality of life by addressing social, physical, and mental health. They value the opportunity to blend their ideas and personality into programs that bring excitement and energy into our patrons' lives. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with an anticipated pay range of $15 per hour, commensurate with experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage multiple programs serving older adults simultaneously, ensuring performance standards are met for the meals program, including relationship management, paperwork, reporting, and programmatic execution requirements
  • Supervise, train and develop all Title V Workers assigned to the site
  • Manage the meal service process to ensure Federal and Agency guidelines are met. Manage amount and quality of food delivered by the caterer, daily reservations and cancellations, as well as the overall service of daily meals to clients
  • Recruit, train and recognize volunteers to assist with the successful running of the congregate site. Work closely with home delivered volunteers and their coordinators
  • Manage program income and provide necessary reporting as required
  • Represent Meals on Wheels in the community in a professional manner
  • Apprise Executive Director and Assistant Director of Program Services, Congregate Dining of immediate concerns as soon as possible
  • Experience with creating work and program schedules
  • Knowledge in program planning and implementation
  • Applying classroom knowledge through hands-on activities
  • Developing and enforcing rules and safety procedure
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and promoting a diversified program for Seniors
  • Coordinate and facilitate activities and events designed to promote creativity, physical and mental well-being, fun and socialization
  • Work alongside community partners to coordinate transportation
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with patrons from different backgrounds
  • Ability to actively participate in departmental and community outreach
  • Knowledgeable of issues and concerns affecting the senior population
  • Other duties as assigned

REPORTS TO

Assistant Director of Program Services, Congregate Dining.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Health and Physical Education, or a related field. (Preferred)
  • 1 year of experience with programs for Seniors
  • Basic computer knowledge, i.e. Microsoft Suite and Google docs
  • Strong accounting skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work based on MOW’s priorities
  • Assist with meal delivery as needed
